Artroom Handmade is a small art studio based in Mortlake, Sydney, with a big dream; to provide a nurturing space to create art & craft.
Slow down
Make Art
The therapeutic benefits of slow art making and making by hand is integral to the mission of the studio. Artroom Handmade aims to provide all with opportunities to take time out, learn new skills and explore the benefits of art and craft, regardless of ability, age or other preconceived obstacles.
The range of classes, workshops and events offered at Artroom Handmade are as diverse as the makers themselves. So far, the studio has provided opportunities for hand building in clay, sculpture using found materials, brush lettering, printmaking, crochet, paper making, natural perfume making, eco dyeing and book art along with painting, collage and contemporary art making practice.
The celebration of the handmade is also seen in the developing retail space which gives opportunity for local makers to sell their wares.
In all aspects, the natural environment and sustainable art making practice are integral in the way classes are designed and undertaken at the studio and the types of products sold in the gallery space.
